What we believe

There is one true God. He is the Creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1). He has always existed (Isaiah 43:10) and He is the one who redeems, saves, or rescues mankind from sin and its consequences (Isaiah 43:11). God is a single being (Deuteronomy 6:4) who consists of three interrelated persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are called The Trinity. (Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and has always existed. Jesus became human by being born of a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:23).  Jesus lived a perfect life without sin (Hebrews 7:26). He died on the cross for every person's sins (I Corinthians 15:3). He was raised from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death (Matthew 28:6).  He ascended to Heaven and will someday return to gather his followers (Acts 1:9, Titus 2:13)
The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. All believers are entitled to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit and should expect and seek this gift. The baptism in the Holy Spirit was a normal experience for believers in the early church  (Acts 1:4,8) and is separate from salvation and follows a new birth experience (Acts 8:12-17). The Holy Spirit gives Christians power to live a Christian life (Acts 1:8).
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. The Scriptures are God's revelation of Himself to mankind and they are infallible (never wrong).  The Bible is our guide for our faith, our beliefs and way of living. (2 Timothy 3:15 - 17,
1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:23)
People are separated from God by sin. Salvation is God's free gift to us but we must accept it (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9). We are not saved by good deeds. We must have faith (trust) in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and repent of our sins and obey God's word (John 14:6, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1). Baptism by immersion demonstrates our response to God's offer of salvation as a pledge of willingness to live for Him (Mark 16:16 Matthew 28:19 Romans 6:4).
The Church of Jesus Christ consists of all who have placed their trust in Jesus for forgiveness of sins. Lighthouse is one part of the total Church.  Membership is extended to all people who are members of Christ's Church. This means they have followed the biblical plan of salvation: 1. Acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior, 2. Repent, 3. Be baptized by immersion. (Acts 2:38, 47, Acts 20:28)
People were created to live forever.  We will exist eternally separated from God by sin or with God through salvation (John 3:16).  To be eternally separated from God is Hell and to be eternally in union with Him is Heaven (Romans 6:23). Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence (Revelation 20:15, Matthew 25:46, Mark 9:43-48).
